Birthday Bright

Card050609 I have three cards to make this weekend - not that that's a bad thing :) - so I thought I would make a start today while I happily watched my taped shows!

The first uses the sketch from Mojo Monday this week, and is for a birthday party our youngest is going to tomorrow.  There is very little stamping in this card, and so it came together very quickly.  The number '6' is from a Kitchen Sink Stamps set that I have, and I have a very similar set from gel-a-tins in the shop

I started with Bazzill cardstock Pomegranate Splash Smoothies and cut it to 14cm x 28cm, scored and foled it in half.  I team my 14cm square cards with the 15cm square envelopes that you can find here.

I wanted the card to be bright and went in search for something suitable for a boy.  You would think that someone with three boys would have more of a selection!  But I found this red and white polka dot piece in my 'Christmas' stash and the top is a favourite from SU!

I cut the star in Bazzill Linen Hillary using my Star Spellbinders (I think for the first time!), raised it with dimensional foam and adhered the stamped number '6'.  The circle was cut with Petite Circle Spellbinders and I included a button from the Creative Collection - Birthday Fun - which I attached using Glossy Accents.  The white circle has been embossed using a Cuttlebug folder.

I hope you have all had a wonderful week, and that the long weekend (here in Vic) is as well!

Thanks for stopping by,

Boxes for Men!

2boxes101208  I was aked to make a couple of boxes for a friend, that would suit men and big enough to put in a gift card and maybe just a few choccies.  This is what I came up with, and I have simply used the same design and size as the ones in this tutorial.

Using DSP from SU! that I had in my collection I set out stamping the outer rims using the borders from the JustRite Stampers Christmas Ensemble.  I then cut them out with the Spellbinders Circles.

Starbox101208 The tree in this image is from the SU! Holiday Spirit set, which is stamped with Palette Burnt Umber and coloured with Copic Sketch Markers.  All the edges of the box bottom and top have been sponged, as well as both stamped images.

Treebox101208 This box uses the Christmas Tree set from Kitchen Sink Stamps, and has been stamped using SU! Always Artichoke.

The Dew Drops are from the Rose collection, but looked a little pink for this project so once attached I coloured them with my Copic markers to make them more red.  Don't you just love these markers?

The ribbon holding the box together is newsatin edged organza I now have in stock and will be online very soon.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope your Christmas preparations are moving along steadily.

Thirteen

Thirteen  There isn't a lot of stamping in this one, but boys don't like it too fussy do they!   This is the second sketch from the weekend and using the numbers from the Kitchen Sink Stamps set, it made it very easy, and quick.  A numbers set is always handy to have, and I have a couple of different ones here, in stock.

The designer paper from Stampin' Up! made this very easy to pull together, along with the little cupcake from Papertrey Inks ' Limitless Labels', I was finished in no time.

Have a great Monday!

Getting started....

SV300030 copy  Hi everyone!  I thought I would share with you today a few of the 'quicker' cards for this years season.  I mean they can't all be like the 'O Holy Night' card, I would never get them finished!  These are some of the ready made cards from TLOCS, and I hope you like some of them for your own projects.

This first card is made using a Cuttlebug embossing and cutting duo.  I have finished it off by rubbing the ink pad over the embossed surface and then added some Dimensional Pearls.  The sentiment is from the SU! set Occasional Greetings, and the circles used the petite Spellbinders. The bottom edge is simply using my Scor-Pal to make the embossed lines.

SV300031 copy The next card is an idea I saw on the Hero Arts site, and I simply introduced the stamps I had to make it up.

SV300034 copy The wording on the Kraft cardstock is the SU! wheel 'All About Christmas' and I have used Versamark on this.

The Christmas tree is from Kitchen Sink Stamps, and the words from Papertrey Ink, and the ribbon is available here.

I achieved the wavy edge using a cutter from CM...easy

SV300032 copy This cute little tree is from the SU! 'Celebrate Everyday' set and is stamped on circles from the Petite Spellbinders.  The main white cardstock was embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder.

SV300035 copy This next little card is using Kraft cardstock once again and I have stamped the main tree image with ink and then the patterned image over the top with the Tsukineko Glue Pad and then added the AED Blue Ice Superfine Glitter.  I wasn't sure how I would like the glue pad for glitter because I have mostly used the Hot Set Powder, but it is great, especially for these quick projects.

I hope you have enjoyed a little look at some new Christmas cards today.  Don't forget to tell everyone about next weeks 'Freebie Friday' and tell them to sign up with Feedblitz (on the left) so they will be reminded to leave a comment when it's on!

Happy stamping,

Golden Stars

SV300031 copy  More Christmas Trees today using the same set from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

I have stamped them across a piece of Kraft cardstock and added 'Gold Pearl' Liquid Pearls for decoration.  The stars were stamped with Versamark and then AED gold ep was added and heat embossed.

I love this bright red polka dot ribbon and thought that it gave ithe card a real lift against the kraft card.  I used my JustRite to make the words and the outer border - looks like little Christmas Trees! - is from the Special Occasions Monogram Stamper Kit.SV300032 copy

The scallop circle is from the Petite Spellbinders Nestabilities.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Tutorial Tuesday - Pouncing

SV300030 copy This is  a great little technique because you can use so many different mediums with it, and each will achieve a different result.

Today I am going to use Liquid Pearls, because it will also give some dimension, as well as colour and shine!

I have used two stamp sets here, the Christmas Tree is from Kitchen Sink Stamps, and the sentiment from Stampin' Up!

The ink is the Palette Hybrid colours Moulin Rouge and Giverney Green, both of which should be in stock any day now!

I paper pierced the red cardstock under the words and added a dollop of the Ruby Red Liquid Pearls above the trees.  The main cardstock colour is 'Kiwi Crush' from BBP.

I use an ice-cream container lid for these messy jobs, because I can take it away to clean and leave my work space ready to go on!  You will also need glossy cardstock cut to the finished size, and two pieces of scrunched up glad wrap.

SV300026 copy

Place a dollop of each colour Liquid Pearls you are going to use on your work surface.

SV300027 copy

Dipping your plastic wrap in the lighter shade you are going to use first, 'pounce' the colour on to the glossy cardstock in an up and down motion, getting more colour as needed.  Leave some white spaces for the second colour.

SV300028 copy

Repeat with your second colour and allow to dry.

SV300029 copy

The Ruby Red covered really easily, so next time I will use a little more of the Gold Pearl and see what that looks like.

Have a great day,

Birthday Brights

SV300001 copy Good morning!  This is the second card from Fridays workshop, and it was a request for a card similar to the August 5th post 'Birthday Stars', that I based it on.  This shot was to show that it can stand on it's own, even though the sides are different lengths - I can never be too sure with things I do!

I have used some of the same beautiful paper from Stampin' Up!, and the stamp sets are from Papertrey Ink and Kitchen Sink Stamps.

SV300083 copy SV300084 copy I try to be very practical with cardstock, and with this card I knew how wide I wanted the outside flap to be, so that just left the inside to measure.  Using A4 cardstock I could get more by cutting the 21cm width, but that left a large gap at the other end, so to finish the inside off I added a strip of stamped white, and I was very happy with that, it just gave the inside a little something.

Have a great Monday, and I shall see you tomorrow for the 'Tutorial Tuesday'.

Happy Stamping,

Birthday Stars

SV300042 copy I find it very difficult knowing what is an appropriate card for some age groups.  My son had a party to go to on the weekend, and at this age they are starting to grow up, and your card - or gift - can look a lttle 'baby' very easily.  Not so much with girls, as we like flowers and pink at any age, but with boys it's a different story entirely.

So this is what I came up with.  I started by rolling the stars in two colours and cutting them out, after first choosing the designer paper from Stampin' Up!

The corners have rounded using the small corner rounder from Stampin' Up!

SV300044 copy I had a bit of fun with it, and I just love stars!

Until tomorrows tutorial, happy stamping,

Andreapostsiggy

Hydrangea Beauty

SV300037 copy When I started this card last night I really didn't know how it was going to turn out, or what colours I was going to use.  The first flowers I was playing with were yellow, and I don't think I have ever seen yellow hydrangeas!

There is so many levels to this card it is very hard to show - my camera doesn't like to focus on side shots - but it's the different levels to these stamps from Kitchen Sink Stamps that are truelly amazing.

SV300040 copy The flowers have four stamps to make up the different depths of colour, and the other images have three levels.

Not having a plan in my head it took a little longer to make than I had allowed, but then housework will still be there later.

SV300039 copy

The dark plum is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  I think I collect these as much as I collect the Stampin' Up! backgrounds - gotta have 'em all.

So I hope you like this card.

Happy stamping this weekend,

Andreapostsiggy

Christmas Sparkle

SV300059 copy Hello again today!  I had started making this card yesterday not even thinking that it was 'Christmas in July' being the 25th of the month, but just wanting to try the new glitter I had ordered in from Alison Ellis Design.  So rather than letting the time pass I thought I would add it in today so it looks as though I was on the right track.

The Christmas tree is from a set from Kitchen Sink Stamps .  I first started by stamping the solid image of the tree with my favourite colour from last years Stampin' Up! in-color range - Cool Caribbean -  and then over stamped one of the designs with Versamark and quickly sprinkled Hot Set Powder from AED, tapped off the excess and then heated using a heat gun.  While it is still hot I sprinkled on the glitter called 'Blue Ice', tapped off the excess  and heat set once again.

The minute I saw this colour glitter I loved it, just as I loved 'Cool Caribbean' when it came out.  It's light and fresh, and great for our Summer Christmas.

I ummmed and aahhed about whether or not to add words, but in the end decided to let the sparkle speak for itself.  If you would like to see the other colours I have in stock follow the link here.

My Friend..

SV300004 copy I had posted this card on my 'other' blog, but thought I would show you here as well just in case you haven't seen these beautiful stamps before.

The stamp set is from Kitchen Sink Stamps and I just love the depth of the different levels.  Would you believe there is four stamps to make up each of the flowers!

For the images stamped directly on the main cardstock I have stamped them off once to give a softer look but to keep the colours matching.

There are two little butterflies in this set and three stamps to bring each of them to life.

This beautiful sentiment is from the new Occasional Greetings set from Stampin' Up!

SV300005 copy With the birthday celebrations over I am now going to settle down to some stamping.  It is raining here which makes for a great opportunity this afternoon to play.

Happy Stamping,

Andrea
