Simply Saturday

Stamping on a Saturday afternoon when I should be organising our little holiday!  Well who can deny that sometimes we just need some time out lol!

I still have a wedding card to make for the wedding we're attending on Monday, a stack of ironing and cleaning to do...but then I still have tomorrow!!  And then there's the list I leave behind for Justin of things he needs to do and not to do lol!

This weeks CAS141 challenge at Splitcoast is a sketch, and I love a sketch to work with!  I've used soft colours to make another Christmas card :

Victorian Velvet and Shabby Shutters are the colours behind this card.  I started with a die cut tag and stamped the two small snowflakes from the set Round For Christmas and heat embossed, then distressed.  My back panel is simply a piece of cardstock distressed with Victorian Velvet and cut to size.

The ornaments have been stamped with the Victorian Velvet then coloured with pencils.

Before I adhered the tag I took a shot of the ornaments hanging just from the back panel to see if I liked that look.  It's very plain but perhaps with a couple of added Sprinkles it might be OK :)

Today I wanted to use some colour seeing my cards have mostly been white lately lol!!

My main image is from the Squared Posies set and I've coloured it with Copics.  I did have another coloured to go on top for dimension but decided against it at the last :)

I'm quickly running out of time to get a lot of things done as my family and I are taking some time out from the middle of next week which is very exciting!!!!

Clean & Simple Christmas

I've seen a lot of cards using the sketch from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog, so I made one today as well :)

 

I took the sketch and the opportunity to make another Christmas card and stamped the smaller ornaments from Stamped For Crhistmas with Memento ink and coloured with pencils.

Added 3mm Chilli Sprinkles and was done!  You've got to love CAS cards lol!  Our new sketch challenge for Friday has a few more layers though :)

One Layer Striped

Hi today :)  I haven't had much of a chance to stamp over the last couple of days but I remember reading the OLW challenge from last week was stripes so I decided to go with that, only to find that the challenge has finished lol!

Just a touch of masking, three coloured inks and this was very quick, so I decided to see what a flower looked like sitting in the centre...

That's it from me today!  I have lots of work I should be doing, but I'd love to stay and do some more stamping lol!

Simply Saturday

Hi bloggers!  I hope you've had a wonderful Saturday so far :)  I was in need of a sympathy card today - not for me to use, but a friend - and I didn't have any at all in my stash, so I put together a couple for her to choose from :

A little masking, a little sponging and a little stamping for this card :)

..And pretty much the same for this one!  Now you can't ask which set these silhouettes came from because they haven't been released yet, but they were just so right for what I wanted today :)

This card was a CASE from this gorgeous card HERE by Karen!  I love her cards always, she is an amazing crafter so be sure to check out her gallery :)

It's time to go and sit and watch a movie!  I love relaxing on a Saturday night watching a movie so I hope something decent is on lol!

Say It In...Pink Green & Kraft

Such great colours, perfect for any occasion!  I've gone Christmas again!  I really will be prepared this year lol!

I don't have a lot of pinks in my Copics so I've used pencils to colour the ornaments today.  Stmpaed on Smooth White card with Memento, coloured then cut out and raised with Helmar Liquid Scrp Dots.  I can never show the layer heights very well in photos!

I've used this weeks CASEstudy muse as my inspiration!  Check out the gorgeous card by Niki Estes HERE!

AnnaBelle Stamps Blog Hop

Thanks for joining us today for our second blog hop for October!  You should've made your way here via our October Guest Designer Karin!  Today we are showcasing the set Gifted Swirls :

I guess for me I like to keep my Christmas cards simple and this year I seem to be reaching for green a lot lol!

For my first card I simply cut a pice of card 5cm x 10.5cm and 'swiped' it with Distress Ink Shabby Shutters before stamping the tree image.  Added my sentiment and three Olive Sprinkles.

This next card took a bit of a shortcut by swiping directly on to my card then stamping the tree.  Using a sentiment from the Round for Christmas set also excluded the need to matt the word on to another circle, so this one was even quicker!


Just a couple of quick tags as well!  These tags use some I've just ordered in for the shop.  One side is a satin finish and the other matte, so I've created the same but used both side to show the difference just by turning over the tag :)  This cardstock doesn't distress as well as our Smooth card, but is easily worked and takes the ink smoothly.

Simply Saturday

What a gorgeous day it is today!  A little windy but no rain for the group of people taking part in this years Relay for Life.  Adam is taking part for the first time this year with his Remar group from school, so as a mum I'm glad it's not raining lol!

I made a visit to the fabulous CAS blog of Simplicity by 'Lateblossom' this morning and read their latest One Layer Wednesday challenge is 'triangles'...so I knew exactly what I was going to do this afternoon!

The circle images from the Round For Christmas set are easily grouped together to form the shape of a tree, and a sentiment for the 'trunk'.  Three 3mm Chilli Sprinkles and my card came together very quickly.

I made this next card the other night trying to work out a few for the shops Christmas cards.  I do packs of Christmas cards each year, mostly for businesses who want to send something a little different with a personal message on the inside, but they can't be something with mega layers or I'll still be doing them next year lol!

I have some invitations to finish now for our Sacristy Christmas dinner coming up.  I said yesterday I'd have them finished for Monday so I'd better get them done lol!

Say It With...Embellished Corners

You will have to forgive me today...nothing worked yesterday when I started working on this weeks challenge!!  I have cards started and not finished and my mind is blank lol!  So I went to an old set that Sue K used in this months Australian Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft magazine (you'll see it on the front cover!!), and quickly threw this card together....yes, thrown together!  I've been at a Sacristy meeting at church this morning that went a little longer than I had thought it would...I haven't had a coffee and I had 15min to finish my card, edit it and get it on both blogs before 12 :)

Lucky the glue dires pretty quickly lol!  If I get any of the other cards finished this afternoon (not looking good) I'll do another post to share lol!

Joy to the World!

I was looking for a challenge yesterday to play along with and thought I hadn't visited the CASE-study challenge for a while!  There was a beautiful card by Nicki Estes there to greet me, so I took the fabulous sketch and created another Christmas card using our new set Ornamental Christmas once again :

Straight off I wanted to use purple and green, but I don't own any purpled Copics so I used my Inktense pencils for the ornament.

I started by creating my large background, distressing with Shabby Shutters and stamping with Peeled Paint.  This stamp is another of our upcoming backgrounds, and I know I shouldn't use them but if they're sitting on your desk what's a girl to do...

The next panel has been distressed with Antique Linen and stamped with our music notes.  I used both Dusty Concord and Milled Lavender to ink it so I had a variance in colour.

All new to the shop today is Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots.  I read about these on a few of the 'big' bloggers sites and did a little research only to find that this product is made in Australia!  I just thought that was so fantastic I had to give it a go!!  The dimensional liquid dries clear so you don't get that white showing.

The ribbon is a piece of seam binding the lovely Sue W sent me and I coloured it by (very quickly) running Walnut Stain - Distress Stain over it.

Simply Saturday

I managed to do some simple stamping today, and it's been so relaxing and such a lot of fun!  You know when you just enjoy doing it, there's no block to take up an hour of your time that you just don't have, and it just flows lol!  I don't get very many of those days but I kinda liked what I churned out today, love to hear what you think :)

Of course we are probably going to see very little projects other than Christmas from now on :) as we get ready for this most beautiful feast, so I've used one of our new sets - Ornamental Christmas.  This is a mini 4" x 4" set and has 13 stamps in it for $11.95 inc. gst.

This was the last card I threw together today but for some reason I've added it in first, and if the rest of this post doesn't make sense it's because I've written this text in backwards as well lol!!!  For this card I took my trusty post it note pad and masked an area one way and sprayed using YG17 and an air compressor, then masked in the opposite and did the same.  I stamped my sentiment and added the sprinkles and thought it almost looked OK just like that but I'd already stamped and coloured my ornaments so I added them in :)

The base card to this card is a light linen and looks much prettier IRL than it does in the photo.  I thought today if I used full sunlight it might take a better photo...but not really lol!  I've used my air compressor and Copic YG17 to lightly spary some colour on then overstamped with Frayed Burlap and our new BBD6 script.  To taper the edges I've simply cut a circle from a piece of scrap paper and layed it down before stamping.  The ornaments have been stamped with Frayed Burlap and the centre holly with Tombow markers.  These ornaments have been coloured with Copics.

The last one is actually the first one I made, so this is where it all started!  I pulled out my air compressor again and lightly sprayed with YG17 to give the soft look to the back of the ornament, then stamped ove this using our BBD6 script set with Frayed Burlap.  I had cut a large circle from a scrap piece of paper and placed it over the green just so the script trailed off to the left istead of having a straight line.

The largest of the ornaments in this set has been stamped with Frayed Burlap and I've just used my finger to take the colour off the holly so I could colour with Tombow watercolour markers before stamping.  I then coloured using pencils, cut the image out and ran a marker around the edge to hide the white cut line.

Say It In...Yellow, Lime & Chocolate

Well these aren't my typical Christmas colours, but I had to at least try with three new sets to play with this week :)

I found this sketch at Card Patterns this week and I immediately thought of our new release set Round For Christmas!

My base card is 14cm x 14cm Smooth White and I've distressed it with Scattered Straw and Frayed Burlap.  I then stamped the script stamp from our new set BBD6 using Frayed Burlap.  I took some of the ink from the stamp with a wet one before stamping.

The three images are from Round For Christmas and have been stamped with Brilliance inks then punched out using a 1" circle punch.

I thought I could've possibly added a larger sentiment to the bottom right hand corner or even some Sprinkles, but decided to leave it as is....


I poppped the circles with dimensional foam which is a little hard to tell in the photos :)

 

What a Fabulous DT!!

AnnaBelle Stamps is so lucky to have such a fabulous DT I think, because they came up with the most gorgeous cards for the hop!!  And it certainly opened my mind to a couple of very quick cards!  My cards don't have the detail or the pazzaz that we saw on the hop but I was so happy at how quickly they came together!!

I have to admit that I was running well behind again today!  By the time I finished uploading everything to the store and organising different things my cards were not what I wanted them to be, but I hope you like them anyway :)

I love dimension, even to a simple card like this, but I hate that you can see the dimensional foam!  Well I found a product whilst hopping one day last week and when I found out it was made here in Australia by Helmar I knew I had to stock it, so watch out for that because we will have it very soon!!

This one comes together fairly quickly if you have three small acrylic blocks!

This is going to be a little difficult to explain but I used an acrylic block with grid lines and placed two of the circles diagonally across from each other, and on the reverse of the block I place another two directly over the first two.....so when I stamped one colour I could then ink up the reverse side in a different colour and line it up easily...

Well that's it from me today!!  Next you'll be wanting to pay Sue W a visit!  

A Little Loopy

This may be true for me, but today I extended the loopy to my card lol!  The CAS-ual Friday ladies have a very fun theme happening this week:

I thought about this last night and decided to do something like a pom-pom but not cut the loops - it was easier in my mind that was for sure!  I use to love making the pom-poms for the hats my Mum use to knit...I loved the cutting at the end and seeing them open up :)

I set about making my 'pom-pom' flower with my two circles of card with a centre hole then wrapped Yellow Twisted Paper Cord around.  I didn't need make it too dense :)

Seeing the theme was loopy I added my ribbon looped as well!
