I hope you've all had a Simply Spectacular Saturday so far!  LOL!  This is my sketch for this weeks Simply Saturday...and it is very simple. I've used an easy to cut out image from Mum's Flowers, stamped it in Palette Noir, and coloured using Twinkling H2O's.  I wanted to try blending two very different colours this time to see how it would look, and experimenting is a great to learn how to use new things.  They blended in to each other very easily, as most water colours do, but what I love about these is their shimmer.

 

I cut the flower out trying to leave just a little of the white cardstock showing so that when I mounted it on to the black felt cardstock it would stand out.  I used dimensional foam to raise the image.

The black was then mounted on to SU! Turquoise and this section was also raised with dimensional foam before going on to the white layer.

Jumping for Joy - ABSC016

Welcome to another Friday!  This weeks Bling Sketch Challenge is prize week, so get your card or project in to win this stamp set!  New to the challenge is that you will have two weeks to get your project entered as the challenge goes fortnightly, with prizes each and every time!

This great sketch is by Michelle this week, and I went in to it thinking this was going to be a breeze.  Not so, this card caused me headaches!  I stamped the image on white cardstock, and wouldn't you know it the DP has a cream background.  So I started again and stamped her on cream, but the cream cardstock I have causes Copics to 'blead', so I went back to the original and cut her out! 

She is very cute though don't you think?  Have I told you that this image is one of the daughters of the artist?  Bella creates beautiful images :)

I also used the Flourishes set, and added Plum 3mm Sprinkles to the side panel for just a touch more bling!

Tree of Swirls

Hello this very fine Wednesday!  I love the in between seasons weather, just as it's starting to change, it's perfect! 

My card today uses the sketch from PCP for this week, and the set is Swirl Tree.  The tree image has been stamped with Palette Burnt Umber and coloured with Copics.  I didn't do any shading but I did go over a couple of spots with the same colour again just to make it a little darker. 

It didn't really take that long to pull together, it was just finding the right embellishment for the side.  Do you like what I've done?  These are punches I have had for many years and they live in a shoe box on my floor.  I've sponged them just lightly on the outer edge and added White Pearls and Cocoa Metallics to the centre.

The sentiment is from the same set, and I've gone over it with the lightest of my Copic greens and added a 4mm Cocoa Metallic to the side.

The ribbon is double faced satin, and the bow was made with the Bow Easy.

Hi everyone, and welcome to my Simply Saturday Sketch :)  Thanks to all the ladies who took part last week, you give us all such inspiration...I love it!  Blogging is such a great way to share.

Nathan is at a birthday party this afternoon, and this is the card I made for his friend. 

 A simple sketch when you're pressed for time - like I was today - but I'd like to give it another go and see what else I can do with it.  That's what amazes me the most each week, seeing how others interpret the same sketch, and what else can be done with it!

I used the balloon and sentiment from the Helen's Party set and 6mm Pumpkin Sprinkles, Kraft and Smooth White cardstock, and DP from SU!

Presents in a line

I loved the AnnaBelle's Bling Sketch Challenge for this week designed by Teresa, but I was wandering how I was going to do the scallops.  I often see the beautiful punches that are available, but I just haven't spent the money yet, so I had to come up with something else :)

To make mine I cut three 4cm strips of DP, and using a large scallop circle punch cut the bottoms of each strip.  Let me know if you haven't seen this done and I will organise some photos :)  It's also how I did the chocolate corners.  Placed them on the white cardstock and then pierced around the edge. 

This should be a challenge to use something from my desk, because yes once again I had these presents from the Helens Party set already coloured and cut out - lucky me, because I was a little late with my card this week...oops.  The Sprinkles are Metallic Pearl in 4mm and 3mm Cocoa.

I coloured them using Copics, added some extra interest with a darker marker, and raised them with some dimensional foam.

Hope you can take part this week!  It could be a practice run for next weeks prize draw :)

An 18th!

Now you have to tell me it's not possible, Justin's friends can't possibly be turning 18, he can't possibly be turning 18 this year himself, surely not!  Well it's true, which means I am going to have to work on more cards for young men....now that's a challenge!  I just know that somewhere amongst the stamps I'm working on will have to be one especially for Justin....so that will be interesting won't it :)

A very plain card I know, using the sketch from PCP from last week, but I really don't have a lot to work with.  I love the DP I found in my stash, so that made the job a little easier, and only one stamp!  Too easy!

Three Vases

Hi all!  I have a very simple card to share this evening, but before I get to that I would love to invite all of you to our newly formed group at SNR Cardiverse .  Come take a look!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this card, so it pretty much evolved as I went along, and had I given it just a little more thought I would have stitched after I added the brown strip of cardstock :)

The three vases and flowers are from the Flowers For You set, and have been stamped on Kraft cardstock with Palette black ink, and coloured with Copics.  I added white gel pen for some interest, but kept it fairly plain.

Here is this weeks sketch for those who would like to join in :)  This week the fine print is - no DP.  I was going to make it - something from off your desk, but thought I would make it a little easier.  For me these three flowers were already stamped, coloured and cut, so I just needed to use them so they wouldn't go to waste!

The flowers and words are from the Flowers For You set and have been stamped on a textured white cardstock.  To keep it simple I stamped the same image around the outer edge of the base colour using a watermark pad.  The Sprinkles are Metallic Pearls, 4mm in Cocoa.

Anniversary Rose - ABSC014

Hello everyone, and thank heaven it's Friday!  Friday not only means the end of the week but also, this week, it means a cool change for us!  It's not really been that hot, because we've had much hotter, it's been humid - yuck!  I tip my hat to those who live across northern Australia because I couldn't do it LOL!!  One up side this past week is I find humidity makes me sweat - not a nice topic I know - but does that mean it might help with the weight loss regime?  Just a thought, and not a bad one :)

Sorry for the rambling...I'd better get on with the card.

This weeks sketch for the AnnaBelles Bling Sketch Challenge is thanks to DT member Michelle from Colour On Cards.   What a great sketch!  My first thoughts were to do a Valentines Day card, but then settled on an Anniversary card...still to do with love.

I used the set Flowers With Love and stamped the rose image three times - well I think they look like roses - and coloured them using my Copics.

I gave a bit of shading around the flowers using E000, which you can't pick up on in the main photo, but I think is a little clearer in the close up.

I pierced around the outer edge of the inner rectangle, and then whipped out the sewing machine to go around the outer edge of the bottom layer.  The Sprinkles are 3mm, 4mm and 6mm Peach adhered using Glossy Accents.

The DSP is from SU!, along with the ribbon and Spellbinders helped out yet again with the circles.

Potted Flowers

A really quick post tonight to share a card I put together yesterday, but I'm not sure if I like today ?!?  It's one of those cards you have in your mind to make, you know exactly what to do and how it should turn out....and then it doesn't?!? 

Anyway, following on from last Saurday's scrunched up flower I thought I would try again and this is what I came up with.  Not sure about it at all, but I think I like the pot :)  Super easy to do, although it was a fluke - yet again - that the bottom part of the pot is on the diagonal..it slipped as I ran it through the Cuttlebug :)

Loved Lost, and yes Sharon, I'm also a fan of Greys!  In fact if I mentioned all the shows I love (because they're all back on now) you'd wonder how I fit them all in to my evening schedule....let's just say I love our old video recorder.

Stemmed Delights

Hi everyone :)  I don't usually play with purple a lot, but going through my scraps today these pieces simply fell together and I had to use them.  In my Christmas Copics pack were three new shades that matched this paper perfectly, and these flowers.

Once I'd stamped the flowers and vase - from the Flowers For You set - I stamped the flowers again on a piece of scrap.  I had intended to simply place the flowers over each other for some dimension, but they looked so pretty off set that I went with that :)

 The Sprinkles are 6mm Lilac which I've adhered using pop dots.

All blog candy from last weeks sketch challenge has been sent out, and I'd love to see what you ladies create with them.

We are gearing up to watch the series return of Lost - we've been fans from the beginning, so we definitely need to see the end.

Happy Saturday everyone, and welcome to Simply Saturday!  I went very simple today because I had to get my card done very quickly.  When DH suggested taking the boys out for an ice cream when we picked Justin up from work I couldn't resist (not that I eat ice cream), but it's great to do things together :)

I went with an idea I have seen many times, and I spent ages trying to find the original blog post of whoever it may have been, where I saw it, of course this was months and months ago.  I do think that it may have been Sandie C who sends me great email updates of incredible ideas....so thanks Sandie if it was you LOL!! 

What do you think?  A CAS card?  And monochromatic?  I think so, so that is what we'll go with this week - CAS and monochromatic, and if you like, one of these torn flowers, from the many blogs I've seen them on!

I must admit that I find it hard to be random - as I've probably said - so I did try  to 'neaten' my torn flowers.  Stuck them together with glue dots and added a couple of buttons.  Really these are super quick!

Thank you to the ladies that took part last week, I was thrilled you joined me!  Using random.org I came up with two numbers for the blog candy 4 and 1, so congratulations Crystal and Sue!  To the other ladies I would love to send you out a little surprise as well, so if you could all email me with your addresses I'll get those out to you ASAP!

I think I mentioned we had had some much needed rain, so I thought I would include a couple of photos I took yesterday afternoon.

This one probably doesn't show it very clearly, but we received 67mm or just over 2 1/2" in 24hrs - Yay!  

 

  These are the cow troughs in our paddock, but the cows didn't have to walk as far today!  The girls belong to the farmer next door, and they're beautiful.

And one last photo, because I don't want to bore you too much :) is our small dam.  This was bone dry with huge cracks, and now look at it, isn't it just too exciting!  See the white pipe?  There was a silly yabbie hanging out of it - backwards - and he was not going to be pulled through.  We had to leave him to wait until the water stopped flowing so he could walk his way back!

Valentine Heart - ABSC013

Hi again, and welcome to this weeks AnnaBelle's Bling Sketch Challenge!  I decided to go all out with the bling for this card - as you can probably see!

I must admit that we don't really celebrate Valentines in our house, but I loved  making this very swirly card!  The new Flourishes set is the perfect thing if you love swirly bling like this! 

The Sprinkles I used today are 3mm Chilli along with a 10mm Chilli Heart.  Now you might think there is a huge difference in the colour in the shop photo and this one, but it's simply my photography skills, because the red is much more red IRL than it appears here.  The sentiment is from the Elephant Valentines set and the hearts were cut using Spellbinders.

Button Birthday

Hi fellow bloggers!  It is raining here today, so we are doing the happy rain dance because it has been weeks and weeks since we had any at all, which means no watering for me today..yah!...and I could take some time out to make a card!

I still have the give away happening below and I can see that Sue and Robyn must be very excited because so far they are the only ones to take part and will win all the prizes!  So come on ladies give them a run for their money LOL!!

Todays card uses the sketch from Mojo Monday, 'cause I needed a little kick start after so many days off.  I've used the set Helen's Party and stamped the present three times on smooth white and the sentiment directly on to the DSP (from SU!) and then did lots of layering and raising.  I think the shot below will show you how much dimensional foam I used :) in fact I used it all up!

 I love the big button which is from TLOCS's Button Bonanza Fiesta range here , with lots of embellishments and stamps on special, so be sure to take a look.
