Freebie Friday - Yummy Paper

Life is Sweet

I can't believe it's Thursday already/again!  The weeks are just rolling by, and I see in my orchard the blossoms are ready to burst even though the days - and nights - are still very cold.  But tomorrow is another Freebie Friday weekend, so be sure to pop back and see what's up for grabs this month!  I am thinking of turning the monthly blog candy in to a sketch challenge and I would love to hear if you like that idea?

This card uses the sketch from Mojo Monday, and the stamp set 'Life is Sweet' from Our Craft Lounge.

I started with the ice-cream sundae and stamped it with Palette Burnt Umber, then coloured with Copics.  I already had the Spellbinders cut out with this paper and cardstock, so I just followed that theme :)

I pierced some holes around the scalloped edge and attached the sundae with dimensional foam.  I added some Sprinkles (a new product that should be in store soon!) to the top corner, and buttons to the bottom.

In the Spotlight!

I have often looked at this technique, but have never tried it before, until the sketch at Paper Craft Planet for this week lured me to try it.

Spotlight stamping is a very simple technique where you stamp the image twice, colouring the second, punching it out and overlaying it on the original image.

With todays card I made it even simpler by using a Papertrey Ink set that has the outline as well as a solid stamp to fill the image - how simple!  I added some buttons and was done very quickly.

Hi everyone!  I hope you've all had as wonderful a day as I've had!  I started with my usual walk with a friend this morning - we get it out of the way as soon as we've dropped the boys to school - followed by a lovely visit to the hairdressers (soft music playing, head massage - you get the picture!), and lastly meeting friends for lunch (we have a friend visiting from Townsville) :)...and Chris wanders why I love working from home ?!?...not.  All incredible when you don't do it very often :)

So todays card is very simple, as I think I am a little relaxed for anything too complicated.  The sketch is this weeks Mojo Monday #96 and uses a border and centre from JustRite Stampers Harmony Classic Circle II.  I have stamped the images using Palette Burnt Umber on DSP from SU! and cut them out with Spellbinders Petite Circles.  Once I had cut all my pieces to size I then sanded them to expose some of the white core to lift the colour.  Adhered them to the cardstock, added some co-ordinating ribbon, tied a bow with the Bow Easy, and presto I was done!

Like the Flower...

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! 

Birthday celebrations are always fun, and special, and I know Nathan had a ball at his first ever party!  I must admit however that I had forgotten how noisy 6 year olds can be, even by comparison to teenagers :)

So this morning when I needed a bit of inspiration I did a bit of a 'blog hop' and came across this card by Frances of Stamp Owl's Studio, and combined it with the TECC sketch for this week.

The template for the card can be found here on Splitcoast, and the only thing I changed was the dimensions, leaving the cardstock at 6 x 12 to better match our C6 envelopes.

The stamp is my new one from Stampavie, and I've stamped it with Palette Burnt Umber on Smooth White cardstock, - and yes coloured it with Copics,- and the DSP is from Upsy Daisy.

I love this sentiment I 'found' and is from Papertrey Ink.  In case it's a little hard to see it say's - Like the flower and the bee, great friends are we. 

On the reverse side I simply added some DSP and white cardstock, with the ribbon tied into a bow.

One Layer at a time!

Over at Paper Craft Planet this week the sketch challenge is a single layer card, so I'm not sure if buttons count!

Todays very simple card was made using Smooth White cardstock and embossing with Spellbinders Labels One.

I kept the die in place and lightly sponged the area, then stamped with Papertrey Ink's Women of Life using SU! Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink and Pink Passion.

Finished with buttons and sentiment in the bottom corner, and I was done!  How easy, simple, time saving...but I bet I'll be back with multiple layers tomorrow :)

Birthday Surprise

Todays card is for Nathan's birthday which is this weekend - I decided to be organised!

I've used the sketch from Mojo Monday and some new DSP from My Minds Eye.

I started with my JustRite Brayton Font set, and Rectangle Stamper to put together the words, and stamped them on Smooth White with SU! Night of Navy.  I trimmed to size and rounded the corners with a punch.  On the Mango Tango DSP I stamped the number six from the Kitchen Sink Stamps set I have and matted it on to Night of Navy cardstock.  Stamped another number on Smooth White and cut it out 'popping' it with dimensional foam tape and coloured the stars with Copics.

For the little sqaure background I simply punched the dot from the Wild Berries DSP, and then a larger from the Mango Tango, and matted those on to the Strawberry DSP from this range.

Finished off with a line of buttons and some 'Sprinkles' that are coming soon!  These are similar to Dew Drops but have a foiled back so the colour really stands out!

Window Flowers

Flowers in my window sill....well that's what I would have if I had a window sill :) 

Like many of you who get the Splitcoaststampers weekly email, I loved the look of the Faux wood grain tutorial, and had to try it.  The card in the tutorial is simply gorgeous!

I mostly followed the tutorial but I don't have the Cuttlebug folder that was used, so I simply used my piercing mat and bone folder and made some wiggly lines on the reverse side of my cardstock.

The layout is for the current OCL sketch challenge on their forum which you can find here.

The gorgeous Tulips are from the Growing Gratitude set and have been stamped on Smooth White and coloured with Copics before cutting out.  The Designer Paper is from Upsy Daisy, and are among just a few I am slowly adding to the store - I hope to get this done sooner rather than later!  I added some 'too cute' buttons (Watermelon and Fiesta)  from the new range along the bottom to finish the sketch.

Hello!

Hello, it's been a little while!  I hope those of you who have school holidays at the moment are enjoying them before the children go back.  I know I love having them home, because I get to go to the pictures as well, so I am making the most of it before Nathan gets too old to have me come along like his brothers!

I have some exciting new stamps in the shop from Stampavie!  The designs I have are from the designer Rachelle Anne Miller, so take a look, they are so cute and have 10% off until the end of the weekend!

I have stamped the image with Palette Burnt Umber three times so that I could give it some dimension.  Coloured one completely with my Copics and cut it with Classic Rectangle Spellbinders, the flower on the next and the centre of the flower on the last and cut each of those out.  They have been adhered using dimensional foam.  With the main flower, and the shell I added some light touches of white gel pen just to highlight.

Monochromatic - Mojo 93

Two views of the one card!  Today was very cloudy so I've tried two angles to show you the colour of the card , albeit very few colours.

I was having a bit of a play today, and used one of my favourite techniques - Emboss Resist -  so using glossy white cardstock I pulled out my SU! Sahara Sand and ran the brayer over a piece of it.  I wanted the colour to show through.  I then stamped  an image from Inque Boutiques set " French Quarter" using Versamark ink, covered with clear embossing powder, and heat set.  Using Sahara Sand again, and my brayer I rolled the piece once more with ink, and cleaned the design up with a tissue, just to pick up any excess colour on the embossed image. IRL it looks just like old fashioned suede wallpaper!

The design was matted on to Vixen Cream cardstock and Java Bazzill.

The centre image was created with glossy cardstock once again.  I brayered with Sahara Sand and gently sanded in both directions.  Stamped the image with Palette Burnt Umber, brayered with Sahara Sand, sanded, then stamped the image once more.  There is a slight shadow of the main image because I haven't lined it up exactly, which actually works well :) !

I finished off with Kraft cardstock for the main card and some piercing and buttons from the new range.
